Alexis Giosa, Volunteer
Meet Alexis Giosa!  Alexis has been volunteering with Spartanburg Shares helping with a little bit of everything (but especially the administrative side more recently) at least one Saturday a month since January 2022.  

Hometown: Cheshire, CT

Bio: Alexis is a third-year medical student at VCOM in Spartanburg, and her goal is to work with cancer patients in the future. She enjoys hitting the Upstate's trails and late-night Cookout milkshakes! 

Why Spartanburg Shares? Spartanburg Shares offers a special opportunity to connect with the community while also bettering their health. 

How did you get involved and where did you find out about us? I learned about Spartanburg Shares through a flyer posted at a local Starbucks in January 2022. I reached out to Lead Volunteer Coordinator Evan Carr at the email listed and started volunteering later that month!  

Bobbie Woods, Volunteer
Meet Bobbie Woods!  Bobbie has been an active volunteer with Spartanburg Shares helping with our administrative and customer service needs most Tuesdays and some Saturdays since June.  Bobbie is also a dedicated, loyal member of Church at The Mill and enjoys spending time with her husband and family.

Hometown: Beaver Falls, PA

Bio: Relocated to SC in 1996. Retired from 23 year banking career as a Trust Assistant with Palmetto Bank (now United Community Bank) and Arthur State Bank. Married to Dean Woods for 49 years. I have two daughters, one here in SC and one in PA, and two grandchildren ages 21 and 16.

Why Spartanburg Shares? I was looking for a way to give back to the Spartanburg community and this seemed to be the perfect fit.

How did you get involved? Volunteering on Tuesdays since June 2023. Using administrative skills where and when needed

Where did you find out about us? In May 2023, my daughter advised me of the need for volunteers.

Arthur Mills, Volunteer/Board Member
Meet Arthur Mills!  Art has served as a volunteer with Spartanburg Shares since January 2022 and is also on our Board of Directors as of June 2023. He serves across our organization in a variety of ways, from customer service to equipment cleanup and repair.  Plus, Art assists with several of our events and is involved with several other local charities as well, including PAL: Play Advocate Live Well, Mobile Meals and Habitat for Humanity.  We are so grateful and excited for his continued involvement!

Bio: Art has been married to his wife Teri since 1994.  Together, they have two children, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Why Spartanburg Shares? Spartanburg Shares is a fun place to volunteer, and we help a lot of folks.

How did you discover and get involved with Spartanburg Shares? I saw a volunteer request flyer one morning at Little River Coffee Bar.
